Sitting alongside the N-332 and A7 in Orihuela Costa is La Zenia Boulevard, largest and most recognisable shopping centres in the area. The Boulevard is a huge open-air shopping centre that spreads out across the area with shops, restaurants, cafés, entertainment and plenty of places to sit.
You can come here specifically to shop, but you can just as easily spend a few hours looking around, stopping for something to eat and letting the children enjoy some of the entertainment that is often on during the summer.
Where is La Zenia Boulevard?
La Zenia Boulevard is located on Calle Jade in La Zenia, Orihuela Costa.
Its location makes it convenient for people staying in La Zenia, Playa Flamenca, Cabo Roig, Campoamor and Villamartín. It is also an easy drive from Torrevieja, making it a popular destination for people staying further north along the Costa Blanca.
The centre is right beside the N-332, and A7, so finding it isn’t particularly difficult. Traffic around La Zenia can be heavy during the summer months, and on Saturdays all year round, due to the nearby Playa Flamenca Market.
It's much bigger than it looks from the road
From the outside, it is easy to think you’re simply looking at another shopping centre. Once you start walking around, you realise just how much there is spread across the different levels and pedestrian areas.
The open design makes it feel less like one enormous building and more like a shopping village.
There are large central areas with plenty of seating and different routes between the shops. During the day it can be relatively relaxed, while evenings can have a completely different atmosphere, particularly during the busy summer season.
What shops are in La Zenia Boulevard?
The centre has a mixture of well-known international brands, Spanish retailers and specialist shops. There are also many more known brands here with names including Primark, Zara, H&M, and Mango.
You will also see more globally recognized stores like The North Face, Vans, Superdry, Nike and others.
Its not all cloths shops here there are also lots of shoe shops, jewellery shops, homeware and MediaMark which sells all your electronics. Think PC world meets Currys.
On the outside of the boulevard you will also find a large Leeroy Merlin whish sells everything you need for your diy projects. From Hammers to ladders, and wood to tiles you will find it all here.
One of the other big stores that are also on the outside is Decathlon which sells everything sports related. In here you can buy swimwear, surf boards, bikes, fishing equipment and more.
Can you buy groceries at La Zenia Boulevard?
Yes you can buy everything from fruit and veg to meat and pasta. Inside the boulevard is Alcampo a large supermarket that sells everything you will need for a large weekly shop.
Inside Alcampo you will also find many smaller independent stores.
Shopping isn't the only reason people come here
There is plenty happening away from the shops. During the summer entertainment is normally put on by the boulevards management. there is a dedicated stage in in the main square that has live entertainment on. Out of the summer months its worth keeping an eye on their website to see what is on. Around major holidays is when they run the most of their entertainment.
Taking the children to La Zenia Boulevard
There is plenty for children to do in La Zenia. There are 2 children’s play areas in the main square, 1 upstairs and one downstairs. There is also a large water fountain in the middle where children are allowed to play in the water during the summer months to keep cool.
The biggest draw for kids is Bowling Pleno Zenia. inside you will find bowling lanes and amusements that will keep the kids happy after a few hours of shopping.
Where can you eat?
There are cafés, fast-food restaurants, bars and sit-down restaurants spread throughout the Boulevard, with plenty of different types of food available.
You can keep things simple with a coffee or quick snack, or make eating part of the visit and sit down for a proper meal. There is your fair share of chain restaurants here, serving food from all around the world.
You don’t have to spend a fortune here as a few of the restaurants offer buffets and includes drinks.
There is also a seating area that allows you to eat food from elsewhere. So you can pick up a sandwich or baguette at one of the other shops here and take it there to eat in the shade.
La Zenia Boulevard Parking
The Boulevard has loads of parking underneath and around the whole of the centre. Its free and is open whilst the centre is open.
Public transport
Busses run to and from La Zenia Boulevard from all around. the bus stop is located at the front. You can get a bus from Torrevieja bus station and takes around 40 min.
Opening times
Most shops shops from Monday to Saturday are open from 10am to 10pm. This may be later during the summer.
Sundays during the summer months the shops are open, but outside of those months the shops are closed.
