The Best Parks In Torrevieja

Torrevieja is full of little green gems dotted all around the town. After years of wandering through them, no two are the same.

Some are perfect for a good workout, others feel like a peaceful escape where you can just sit and unwind. A few are absolute playground heavens that keep the kids buzzing with excitement for hours.

Parque de las Naciones

10 am–11 pm

Situated right in Torrevieja on the southern Costa Blanca, a town famous for its Blue Flag beaches and the therapeutic salt lakes that create its unique microclimate. Parque de las Naciones is one of the city’s top visitor draws.

Covering a generous 26,000 m², the park lies on the edge of the town centre in the urbanisation that shares its name, bordered by the CV-905 road and the N-332 coastal highway.

It takes its name from its celebration of Europe: at the heart of the park you’ll find a large-scale model of the European continent, with each country marked out. Packed with walking paths, playgrounds, ponds, and plenty of shaded spots, the park is home to a wide variety of plants, birds, and even a few resident peacocks and squirrels, making it a favourite with families and nature lovers alike.

Often used for local events.

Parc Natural de Las Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja

24 Hours

Laguna de La Mata is a stunning protected nature reserve offering a relaxed, flat trail that loops right around the lagoon. Perfect for walking, cycling, or even pushing a stroller with kids and pets. The wide, well-marked path has almost no hills and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Covering around 700 hectares, this beautiful green-blue lagoon (coloured by algae and micro-organisms) was granted protected status by the Valencian government in 1989. Although salty, it’s less saline than its neighbour, the Torrevieja lagoon, and is fed by a channel from the Mediterranean. Its primary role is to warm seawater before it’s moved to the Torrevieja lagoon for salt production.

Together with the Torrevieja, Santa Pola, and El Hondo wetlands, it forms a vital triangle of habitats that thousands of migratory birds rely on for breeding, feeding, and resting.

Around the park you’ll find picnic spots, viewing platforms, and several bird hides, the perfect places to sit quietly and watch flamingos, herons, ducks, and many other species in their natural environment.

Parque De La Estación

10 am–11 pm

The old Torrevieja Railway Station park (Parque de la Estación) is super easy to reach: it’s just a 10–15 minute walk from the town centre (Plaza de la Constitución) or a couple of minutes from the nearest bus stops, which are less than 200 m away. If you’re driving, there’s street parking around the perimeter, though it can fill up quickly in high season.

The park is fully accessible, with entrances on every side and no steps or barriers for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

It’s a favourite hangout for the Torrevieja Skating Club, who often meet up here for group skates. You’ll also find plenty of green lawns, a good-sized children’s playground, and lots of benches in the shade.

Every year the park hosts the popular May Fair (usually 9–12 May) with traditional Andalusian casetas, flamenco and dance performances, live music, and plenty of food stalls. Throughout the year it also welcomes food markets, concerts, and other community events.
