Of course, even in Torrevieja there will be days when the weather isn’t ideal, or the summer heat becomes too much for younger children. Luckily, there are plenty of alternatives to the beach, including water parks, play areas, sports activities and family-friendly attractions.
Whether you’re looking for something to do on a cooler day, need somewhere to escape the summer heat or simply want to keep the kids entertained, Torrevieja has plenty of options for a fun family day out.
1: Visit The Waterparks In Torrvieja
During the summer months, families have two water parks to choose from in and around Torrevieja. Aquopolis Torrevieja is the larger and more well-known of the two, while Flamingo Aquapark in La Siesta is a smaller option that is particularly suited to younger children.
Aquopolis Torrevieja has something for most ages, with a mixture of smaller children’s attractions and bigger slides for older kids and adults. There are pools and play areas for younger visitors, while the larger rides provide plenty of excitement for anyone looking for something faster. When you need a break from the water, there are also grassy areas where you can relax.
There are several places to buy food and drinks inside the park, although prices can add up quickly, especially when visiting as a family. Check the current park rules before you go, including whether you can bring your own food and drinks, as these policies can change. It is also worth checking the opening times and ticket prices before setting off, particularly during the busy summer season.
Flamingo Aquapark in La Siesta is smaller and has a more relaxed feel. It is aimed mainly at younger children, with swimming pools, smaller water rides and play areas where they can enjoy themselves without the bigger slides found at Aquopolis.
There is a snack bar on site, but visitors are not permitted to bring their own food into the park. Flamingo is also easy to reach by bus from central Torrevieja, making it a useful option if you don’t have a car.

2: Visit La Siesta Park
A little further out from Torrevieja city centre, Parque La Siesta in the El Chaparral area is a great place for families and anyone who enjoys being active outdoors. The park has plenty of green space alongside a good mix of sports facilities, play areas and places to relax, making it easy to spend a few hours here.
One of the main attractions is the Pumptrack Park Torrevieja, a large asphalt track for BMX bikes, scooters, skateboards and inline skates. The track is divided into sections for different ability levels, so beginners can have a go while more experienced riders can test their skills. Throughout the year, the track also hosts events, exhibitions and competitions for both younger riders and professional BMX athletes.
The pump track is free to use, although there is very little shade, so during the hotter months it is best to visit early in the morning or later in the evening. Helmets and suitable protective equipment are also recommended.
There is plenty more for families to enjoy around the park, including padel courts, a basketball court, mini football pitches, a hockey area, petanque lanes, outdoor fitness equipment and modern children’s play areas. You will also find picnic areas, walking paths, a climbing wall and separate spaces for small and large dogs.
With Dozens of trees and hundreds of ornamental and aromatic plants, the park is also a pleasant place to slow down and relax between activities. Where To Eat In La Siesta With Kids
If you and the kids are hungry whilst around La Siesta Park or Flamingo Aquapark stop in at Premium Wok. This is a buffet Chinese restaurant that includes unlimited refill drinks. Included is a grill that you can have fresh meat, seafood, and veg cooked to order. Desserts are also included with a chocolate fountain, cakes, and fresh fruit. you may want to let the kids play in the play area before they eat.
3: Visit the Salinas de Torrevieja
For something a little different, take the kids to the Torrevieja Salt Lakes and hop aboard the small tourist train for a trip around the famous salt flats. It is a fun way for children to see the huge salt mountains up close while learning how salt is produced in Torrevieja.
The train ride makes the visit much more interesting for younger children than simply looking at the lagoon. Along the way, they can learn about the salt industry, see how the landscape has been shaped by salt production and, on certain tours, get a closer look at the salt itself. Younger children can try activities such as duck fishing, while older kids will find plenty of faster and more exciting rides to keep them happy.
And, of course, no visit to the fair is complete without some traditional fairground treats. You will usually find stalls selling sweets, candy floss, waffles and other snacks, which adds to the experience.
The funfair is generally an evening attraction, particularly during the hotter summer months when the cooler temperatures make it much more enjoyable. Opening days and times can vary throughout the year, so it is worth checking the latest information before you go.

The Fair Is planned to be moved back to its original place at the Port later in the year. There is still no official date for the move back, but work is still ongoing around the port. My guess is it will return to the port in 2027.
5: Torrevieja Sports City

The sports complex has a wide range of facilities and activities suitable for different ages and abilities, giving children the chance to try something new or continue with a sport they already enjoy.
